A training company in Leighton Buzzard has presented hundreds of pounds to a children’s charity Toy Box Appeal hoping to bring some early Christmas cheer to youngsters.

Last week at C&C Training’s head office in Ridgeway Court, Grovebury Road, company directors Ruth Crothers and Charlie Cadman handed over a cheque to Gordon Moulds and Sandra Doherty of KidsOut, whose headquarters is also in Leighton Buzzard.

During C&C’s three-month-long fundraiser, the company asked its delegates attending courses at its training centres in Leighton and Bury St Edmunds to give generously to the appeal through donations, and by purchasing the KidsOut Pink Panther bendy-toys.

Much to C&C’s delight, takings were in the pink (just like the panthers!) and £470 was collected – enough to fund 10 toy boxes.

KidsOut’s Toy Box appeal provides disadvantaged children with toys who may not otherwise receive anything – not just at Christmas.

Many have had to leave the family home and national statistics show a rise at this time of year. Each toy box is filled with games, books, and a teddy to cuddle. KidsOut maintain ‘“it gives children a sense of normality, making the world seem a kinder place where someone cares”.

Ruth Crothers said: “We have great pleasure in presenting KidsOut with the money. Charlie and I both have children so this charity is close to our hearts and we wanted to give something to children who may not otherwise have received a gift this year.

“We would like to thank all our customers, delegates, neighbouring businesses, and our staff who donated.”

KidsOut were delighted with the donation. Chief exec Gordon Moulds said: “The support we have received from C&C Training this year has been quite staggering.

“Selling Pink Panthers for KidsOut means that we will be able to bring a bit of fun and happiness into the lives of disadvantaged children this Christmas who would otherwise have nothing.”
