Blood donors who are O Rh negative (O-) are being asked to donate following the festive period as blood stocks dip around holiday time.

The outbreak of norovirus has also led to more people cancelling their appointments –as many as 50 per cent of O-neg donors cancelled over Christmas.

O-neg donors’ blood can be given to other blood groups which can be vital in emergencies.
