Burglaries in same street on same day prompt warning

Police in Leighton Buzzard are warning residents to check their home security after two burglaries were reported on the same day.

Both happened in Orion Way on November 29 and involved a person trying to gain access to the rear of the neighbouring properties.

In one case the burglar failed to get in to the house but at a second home the intruder managed to gain entry through a rear door and took an Apple iMac Air Book, a Rubbermaid hammer, a pair of designer Maui Jim sunglasses, a Raymond Weil watch with a silver link strap and a Tissot watch with a gold and silver link strap.

Det Con Surfraz Hussain, investigating, is keen to trace anyone who may have been offered similar items for sale recently and would like to remind residents to check their home security.

He said: “Last weekthe force held a a countywide burglary prevention week to encourage residents to take the necessary precautions to protect their homes. The public can also help us by contacting the police if they have any information about burglary, or the sale of property which they believe could be stolen.”

Anyone with information relating to this investigation can contact Det Con Hussain, in confidence, at Luton Police Station, on 01582 394435, Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
