Police in Leighton have praised the bravery of a middle aged couple who were attacked in their home in the early hours of today and threatened with a stun gun.
Detectives are now appealing for help in tracking down the three-man gang who broke into a house in Taylor’s Ride and confronted the owners while they were in bed.
The robbery was reported at 2.40am after three masked men broke into the house and went to the main bedroom.
After waking the 47-year-old resident and his wife the thugs demanded cash and told the terrified couple to lay face down. The husband put up a struggle forcing the gang to flee empty-handed.
The three intruders all wore masks but are believed to be in their 20s, about 5’8” tall and all wore black clothes.
The officer in charge of the investigation, Det Sgt Emma James, is now appealing for help in tracing the trio or anyone who may have noticed a white pickup style vehicle in the area.
DS James said: “The victim was brave and tried to struggle but as he did so he sustained a bump to his head which luckily did not required hospital treatment.
“The men also left behind a stun gun which was used to threaten the victim but not discharged.
“It is possible that motorists in the area late last night noticed an unusual vehicle and we know that a white pickup style vehicle was seen in the area on Monday morning slowly driving along the road.
“I would urge anyone else who saw this pickup or anyone who saw a vehicle driving from the scene to contact the police, in confidence.”
