A 46-year-old man was hospitalised with serious head injuries after being assaulted in his own home in Heath and Reach at the weekend.

Paramedics were called to a flat at the Dukes Head in Leighton Road at 6.30am yesterday (Sunday) and took the victim to Luton and Dunstable Hospital for treatment where he remains in a stable condition.

Police attended the scene and immediately launched an investigation in to the circumstances surrounding the offence.

Det Sgt Steve Facer is keen to trace anyone who may have seen any strangers or anyone acting suspiciously in the area over the weekend.

He said: “This was an extremely violent assault which has left the victim with serious head injuries.

“We know the victim left the local Aldi shop at 5.40pm on Saturday evening (May 10) and we are now piecing together exactly what happened to him after leaving the shop and being found the following morning.

“I would urge members of the public who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area between Saturday evening and Sunday morning or anyone who heard a commotion during the night to come forward and assist with this investigation.”

Anyone with information can contact Det Sgt Facer at Luton Police Station, in confidence, on 01582 394066, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Alternatively you can contact the independent crime fighting charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
