NSPCC reacts to Linslade golfer Gavin Samuels's rape conviction

On Tuesday at Luton Crown Court, Samuels was found guilty of six sex offences against one girl, including four counts of rape. He had been convicted of abusing two other girls at an earlier trial.

An NSPCC spokesman said: “This is an appalling case which highlights the lengths that sexual predators like Samuels can go to in order to groom and abuse children.

“The victim must be praised for her incredible bravery in coming forward and helping to bring Samuels’ horrific campaign of abuse to an end.

“It’s vital that all survivors of abuse feel confident they will be listened to when they report abuse and that they are giving appropriate support afterwards.”

Over the course of two trials, Samuels was found guilty of:

>Four counts of rape

>Two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16

>One count of assault by penetration

>One count of sexual assault with a child under 16

>One count of sexual assault with a child under 13

>One count of attempted sexual activity with a child under 16

He will be sentenced on April 28.
