Distinctive old coins were stolen during a burglary at a pensioner’s home in Leighton Buzzard on Wednesday, April 8.

The intruders forced open a rear window to the house in Billington Road, and it is believed they left through the same window with the items.

The collection included a Silver Crown Princess from 1981, a 1965 Churchill, a Florin Marriage coin and Florin Crowns from 1948, 1954, 1962 and 1979.

The elderly occupant of the house was not in at the time of the break-in, which took place between 7.20pm and 9.30pm.

Det Con Victoria Cunningham, investigating, said: “This was a traumatising incident for the elderly victim, whose home was violated.

“The coins taken are rare and distinctive, so I would urge anyone who has any information about the break-in, or has been offered these items for sale, to contact me immediately.”

Contact Det Con Cunningham on 101 or text 07786 200 011 with information.
