A shop was badly damaged after being ram raided by criminals in a stolen JCB who fled with an ATM cash machine.

The digger was driven into the front of the Londis and post office in Wing High Street at about 2.50am this morning (Thursday).

The cash machine was taken before the gang fled the scene in a red vehicle, leaving the JCB outside the store.

A witness saw a man in a balaclava but there are no other descriptions of the gang at the moment.

The gang stole the yellow digger from Cottlesloe Farm, Cublington Road, Wing, sometime after 9pm on Wednesday night.

The offences are being linked to another burglary at Three Counties Filling Station in London Road, Olney, at about 2.30am on Wednesday August 20 when the cash machine was later found.

The incident has led to traffic congestion in the area and also caused problems for senior citizens in the village who have been trying to collect their pensions.
