The attack happened at 9.35pm on Wednesday January 14 as the woman returned home to Rossfold Road in Luton from work.

She was walking through her back garden when she was struck on the back of the head by the thief, who made off with her bag.

The offender then dropped the bag while escaping over the fence.

Detective constable Catherine Layton said: “The victim was attacked in her own garden and left with whiplash and injury to the head.

“The house backs on to Cheynes Infant School playing fields and you might have seen the offender hanging around or running off if you were in the area around the school between 9pm and 10pm. If you saw someone acting suspiciously I’d like to hear from you.”

Anyone with information is advised to contact Beds Police on 101 or text information to 07786 200011.
