'˜Unwell' driver found on A5 near Caddington

Beds Police are appealing to the public for more information after a man was found unwell on the A5 at Caddington yesterday.

Emergency services were called at around 7.05pm to reports of concern for a man on the northbound carriageway.

When police attended and spoke to the man, he was arrested on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit.

After being examined at hospital and discharged, the man then became unwell at Luton Police Station and was taken back to hospital.

He remains in a serious condition. The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), a police spokesman stated this was standard procedure when a person in recent contact with the police becomes unwell.

Officers are seeking further information about the man’s activities prior to emergency services arriving at A5 yesterday.

Anyone who was driving on the A5 at around 7pm last night and witnessed an incident is asked to contact police on 101 with information.
