Police are appealing for witnesses after the victim was robbed in Leighton Buzzard on Monday (May 16).

The woman was walking along Bridge Street at around 11.20pm towards the town centre when she was attacked.

The man, who is described as white and wearing a balaclava, then ran off to a car park near Waitrose, where it is believed he got into a vehicle that was waiting for him.

PC Ryan Barnes, investigating, said: “This was a nasty incident in which the offender dragged the woman into an alleyway before stealing her handbag.

“I’m appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

“The woman screamed out during her ordeal and it’s possible that people may have heard this, if so I’d urge them to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Barnes on 101, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
