A teenager was punched in the face during a robbery in a Leighton Buzzard alleyway in the early hours of Sunday, July 20.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 19-year-old woman was assaulted and had her handbag stolen during the attack.

The incident took place at around 5am as the victim was walking along the alleyway at the back of Morrisons which connects South Street and Hartwell Grove.

She was grabbed from behind by her attacker – a tanned white man wearing a black zip-up hooded jacket and dark blue jeans – who snatched her handbag and then punched her in the face three times before fleeing.

The victim suffered bruising and swelling to her right eye but did not require hospital treatment.

Det Con Ben Stone, who is investigating the robbery, would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack and may have seen the culprit before or after the incident.

If you have information, contact Det Con Stone, in confidence, on 01582 394471, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011. Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
