Woman’s BMW stolen as she turns her back in Leighton

A woman who had suddenly taken ill while driving through Leighton Buzzard watched on as her car was stolen right in front of her.

The 49-year-old driver had pulled over on Heath Road after feeling unwell and, as she turned to get back into her car, a man wearing a hooded top, black tracksuit and baseball cap got into her blue BMW and drove away.

It happened between 3.45pm and 4pm on Sunday, December 8, and police are keen to trace anyone who may have seen the theft, which was last seen being driven along Clarence Road.

A blue BMW car was reportedly involved in road traffic collision shortly after the theft of the car in Heath Road and it is thought to be the stolen vehicle, which has the registration number YF13 OUF.

Wendy Moffatt, investigating, would like to speak to any witnesses to the car theft and also the road traffic collision.
