December art at Leighton Library Theatre
Artists hope serendipity will bring success in exhibition.
LEIGHTON-Linslade artists Denise Saunders and Don Evans are hoping fortune smiles on them with their latest exhibition at the town's library.
Called Serendipity the show is running until the new year and displays original artwork in watercolour and mixed media.
Don, of Cotefield Drive, and Denise, of Hillside Road, are both members of the Leighton Buzzard Art Society and their work is regularly exhibited in the town.
The new show, in the Library Theatre's bar area, features a series of framed watercolour landscapes by Don.
His subjects are as diverse as the tranquillity of a leafy lane to a vibrant seascape.
Don took up painting about five years ago and watercolour is his favourite medium although he has dabbled in acrylic.
Self taught initially, he has, by his own admission, progressed in leaps and bounds through enrolling in one of the many art classes run in the town.
Denise is displaying a series of framed abstract-style paintings using both watercolour and mixed media mainly in order to provide a diversity of textures.
The artist gave up full-time work five years ago and began to rekindle an interest in painting.
Classes gave her an opportunity of trying her hand at pencil drawing, charcoal and paints and she has recently become absorbed in abstract painting.
Serendipity runs until January 3.
