VIDEO: Weather didn’t play ball for £3m sports hub opening

The weather was offside for the long-awaited grand opening of The Cottesloe School’s new £3m Sports Hub.

But rain didn’t stop play as the visitors arrived in Wing on Tuesday for the special event, which included a tour of the brand new site, and buffet lunch.

Special guest was Nigel Fox, headteacher at Cottesloe for a number of years, until retiring in December 2012.

Mr Fox was instrumental to the development of the hub, and was delighted to be invited to cut the ribbon for its official opening.

It was smiles all round as the guests were led through the building, the proportions and facilities truly having the ‘wow!’ factor.

The main hall is designed to be used for a number of sports, several simultaneously, and during the event it was occupied by groups of Year 7 students who were busy learning football and basketball skills, with equipment and apparatus being easily stored and interchangeable.

The six classrooms are equipped with interactive touch screens, and motion sensitive lighting has been fitted throughout, so energy wastage is minimised.
