Dean get Straight into the semis

Dean Dibsdall

Linslade’s Dean Dibsdall has made it into the semi-finals of Channel 4’s Playing It Straight despite being the victim of a bitchy gossipy campaign by one of the other contestants.

Dean, who spent most of episode six suffering from a dodgy tummy, has made an enemy of hunky Viking Sven who called for our 27-year-old farrier from Knaves Hill to be eliminated from the programme.

There’s just six lads left in the reality dating programme with a £50,000 first prize if blonde star, Carla, can rightly pick a straight boyfriend. If she picks a gay guy he will pocket the jackpot.

This week they had to man up and abseil down a 100m cliff in The Pyranees, write a love-song for Carla and yomp through the countryside.

Fellow contestant Ben told viewers: “Dean has a quiet confidence but everyone thinks he is gay. Sven is gunning for him. There’s a real grudge match developing.”

At the end of the programme, which first airs on E4 on Monday nights and is repeated on Channel 4 the following Saturday, Carla told Dean: “Quite a few of the guys think you are one of the gay guys. If you are a straight guy I need to see more of it and I haven’t lately.”

So, with two episodes to go, will Dean confound his critics and win the day?
