Stewkley rising star Larry Mills is set to feature in a new five part television series that begins its prime-time run on Wednesday night.

Larry, of High Street South, is appearing in Lightfields, the spooky follow up to its hugely successful time-travel drama, Marchlands.

It’s a supernatural thriller set on a remote farm in Suffolk and the story follows three families who each lived at the farmhouse in different time periods.

Larry’s character, Pip, first appears as an old man moving into the farm with his family, Barry and Lorna Felwood, in the present day. But soon there are flashbacks to what happened to a much younger Pip (Larry) when he lived in the house as a boy.

This is the first time he has returned and the ailing Pip is disturbed to be back after all these years. He won’t talk about his childhood on the farm. Pip knows his return has awakened something in the house but he refuses to acknowledge it. What he doesn’t know is that there is someone else who is only too willing to see and communicate with this ghostly presence; his great grandson Luke.

Larry, 12, who stars alongside Jill Halfpenny, Kris Marshall, Sophie Thompson and Danny Miller, said: “Lightfields was a great experience. The days spent filming were long and very tiring but it was great to be part of such a big production, spread over different locations and time periods and featuring a really good cast.

“I was really looking forward to seeing how TV drama was made so I could compare it with my experience working on a feature film – and now I’m keen to do more of both!

“I think Lightfields is a very impressive drama – and at times really scary! Even though I had an idea of what was going to happen, when I went to the cast screening for the first episode it was still pretty frightening!.”

The youngster got his big break when first tried out in an audition for a film version of Horrid Henry after his former school, St Michael’s, Stewkley, were contacted by casting agents. Though unsuccessful he later received a call asking him to attend a further audition for a new family film being made for the BBC and found himself working alongside the award-winning Eddie Izzard in the 2011 Yuletide stocking filla, The Lost Christmas.

Larry now has auditions coming up for another new TV series and also a major feature film which will shoot in the summer. He was also in the last two or three for both Les Mis and Anna Karenina in 2012 but just missed out.

Lightfields is on at 9pm.
