Central Bedfordshire residents are being encouraged to carry on recycling during the Christmas period.

Residents are likely to have more waste than usual, with more food and drink consumed and wrapping paper from Christmas day.

If there is extra waste, it can be disposed of at local Household Waste Recycling Centre, which will remain open except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The council is operating a revised bin collection timetable until Monday, January 5, residents must out their bins out by 7am on the revised days.

Councillor Budge Wells said: “We know how much hard work goes into making Christmas a memorable time.

“There’s so much to remember, so recycling may not seem like a high priority, however it’s actually the perfect time to be on top of your recycling.

“Residents can visit our website where all the information about our waste collection service is readily available.

“Recycling and re-using at Christmas does not have to be a chore, in fact it’s quick, easy and requires little effort.”
