Former LBO wildlife columnist Kirsten Hintner has released her first children’s book.

The Magic Dolphin includes illustrations and photographs of the real dolphins featured in the story, who live in the wild at Cardigan Bay.

Film-maker and narrator Kirsten, from Woburn Sands, wrote the Nature Watch column in the LBO in the late 90s.

She says The Magic Dolphin emcompasses everything that an animal lover craves – strong characters, fun, real behaviour, and accurate information resulting from the marine biologists who study them.

She said: “It’s a story for young minds to absorb – a whirlwind of adventure enhanced with photographs of the actual dolphins featured in the book, and also beautifully illustrated by keen marine biologist Alice Ormiston.

“What makes this story even more enthralling is that the dolphins featured are actually real - alive, and swimming around wild and free in Cardigan Bay!

“Many children who choose to adopt a dolphin have previously visited the dolphins in the bay, and that’s where the REAL magic begins! In fact the main character, Lucy, is based on an adoptee who did just that!”
