A new initiative for older people living in Leighton-Linslade starts on Tuesday, April 21.

Leighton-Linslade Town Council is launching a six-week programme of weekly armchair exercise classes.

The sessions will take place in the Royal British Legion Hall in West Street, starting at 2pm.

Proven to be beneficial to help those with arthritis and poor mobility, the exercises work the joints, help keep the body supple whilst stimulating the mind.

The town council is working with instructor Jaqui Shaw, who has created a special programme of exercises called Sit N’ Stay Fit. All the exercises take place in an armchair and are based to music providing a gentle and fun activity suitable for older people.

Each class lasts for 45 minutes and costs £2.50 per person per class including light refreshments. It is hoped that this new initiative aimed at providing social interaction, fun and well-being will be extremely popular but places are limited.
