It may be several months away, but preparations for this year’s May Day Fayre in Leighton are gathering pace.
This year’s event takes place on May 4, so what can we expect in 2015 from one of the most popular events in Leighton’s calendar?
There will be the traditional entertainment all day long at the Market Cross, with the High Street lined with stalls from local organisations and charities, topped up with Tom Smith’s fairground rides at the Church Square end.
On Parson’s Close Recreation Ground there will be more rides, local groups showing off what they do and further charity stalls.
On top of all this organisers, the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade, have managed to bring to Leighton something that has not been widely seen since The Royal Tournament closed in 1999.
Spokesman David Edwards said: “We have booked The Royal Navy field gun race. It promises an exciting spectacle with encouragement from the crowds.
“If you have never seen it before make sure you come along.
“We also have the Birds of Bray. They have been to May Day Fayre some years ago and were very popular. If you are fascinated by large birds of prey you will love them!”
He added: “If you or your group have something to offer by way of entertainment or interest or would like a stall, please get in touch with Alan Layzell on 01525 754820. And don’t forget to put the date in your diary.”
