A gifted little boy from Leighton Buzzard has proven he is a dog whisperer of no mean degree.
Already, four-year-old dog-handler Lenny Macauley has wons awards with pooches at local dog shows and looks set to continue his hobby.
His proud gran, herself an enthusiastic dog handler, told the LBO : “He was born and brought up with dogs and he’s got a natural affinity with them. He’s a very sensible young man and he listens to what he’s told.”
On Sunday, September 20, little Lenny won the Best In Show at the Bassett Griffon Vendeen Club Show, held in Milton Keynes – one of the biggest shows around.
He handled Alfie – a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen owned by a family friend – at the show, which included 45 other dogs.
He won a large trophy, bag of dog food, and several rosettes besides the grand Best In Show rosette.
But when thrilled family members rushed up to Lenny afterwards, the little boy didn’t understand what all the fuss was about and wondered if the rosette was for him.
His gran hopes he will continue working with animals, and one day show his own canine pal at Crufts.
