Get on track for Leighton knitting marathon!
Volunteers needed for blanket appeal.
LEIGHTON'S knitters are being urged to get on board a charity stunt aimed at producing a blanket the length of the town's narrow gauge railway track.
The not-so-woolly idea is the brainwave of Maggie Evans who runs the railway's craft shop and she's hoping that volunteers will come up with three-miles of knitwear as part of the shop's 10th anniversary celebrations.
Maggie is eager to hear from anyone wanting to join in the fun. The blankets are to be knitted up in two-metre sections so that they can be sewn together for blankets.
On Sunday August 1 as part of the shop's anniversary celebrations there's a live craft demonstration day for visitors to see local crafters at work.
Said Maggie: "Apart from live crafts we will have entertainment and music and, of course, the train ride to reach the event and displays of historic engines for the dads to see.
"We would be delighted if any keen knitters out there would contact us to help us with our mammoth project."
If you think you can help call Maggie 01296 630225, Ann 01494 783606, or Denise 01582 655384.
