L.B First is inviting the community to support local businesses at the annual Independent’s Day on Saturday, July 4.

The organisation is a group of high street independent traders and residents who want to promote the town’s historic high street and show what the town centre can offer.

The day is part of a national campaign promoting and encouraging people to support their local independent shops, market traders and local producers.

Gennaro Borrelli, L.B First Chairman, said: “Things are quite balanced at the moment amongst local traders, there are a few vacant shops and there are some new businesses in the town.

“We want to see things improve and that is what this day is about, encouraging local people to shop locally and support the businesses in the town.

“Hopefully this event will show people what Leighton Buzzard has to offer.”

There will be lots of market stalls and people can try the local produce before they buy it.

Mr Borrelli added: “We have arranged with the market manager for Leighton Buzzard Brewery Co. Millwhites Cider from Boxmoor, Chafor wines who have a vineyard near Buckingham and another one near Aylesbury and Kingdom Kitchen, Leighton Buzzard, to run alongside the regular market in the High Street.”

The Bald Buzzard mascot will be on the High Street introducing people to the latest independent business to open, The Bald Buzzard micro pub.
