In the three short years since she started running, Debbie Roff, 34, has not only joined Leighton Fun Runners, but is now managing one of their beginners programmes – Couch to 5km.

The Aylesbury PR agency account director, who lives in Peartree Lane, is looking forward to her first London Marathon later this month.

She’s doing it for the LFR’s chosen charity. the East Anglian Air Ambulance, and has already hit her £1,000 target. “But I’m not stopping there,” she said. “I hope to raise as much as possible because the EAAA does such amazing work in our area.”

The former Vandyke student did the Paris marathon last year but and has had to restrict her training due to illness. “It’s been much harder this time,” she confessed.

“But I’m really excited about soaking up the atmosphere at one of the best marathons in the world. I want to be able to walk away saying I really enjoyed it, rather than worrying about my time.”
