Leighton pubs honour armed forces

Go and join in the fun, and raise money for heroes

STAND by your beds! Prepare for a day to celebrate and acknowledge our brave boys and girls serving in the armed forces on the front line.

Three pubs in Leighton are showing their patriotic side by taking part in the first National Armed Forces Day this Saturday, June 27. Fun starts about 11.30am.

Locals have probably seen the marvellously decorated Falcon Pub in Billington Road, and The Roebuck in Hockliffe Street and The Hare in Linslade are joining in as well.

The Falcon landlady Jacky Regan has used 150 feet of Union Jack flags to make her point and there are still more balloons to come.

On Saturday, she plans a barbecue, bouncy castle, bouncy boxing, a fancy dress and face painting. Plus live bands will be playing all day. Raffle prizes include a limited edition bottle of whiskey from the Royal Marines Special Boat Squad.

Transport between the three pubs is also arranged. On Saturday, a team of trike bikers will be happy to deliver drinkers from door to door for a small fee. While Sunday, army vehicles will be doing the honours.

Meanwhile, The Roebuck will have a human demolition zone and bands, while The Hare is offering a FREE pint of Tring beer for veterans wearing blazers and medals.

All money raised on the day will go to the Braveheart programme charity which looks after army personnel with post traumatic stress.
