After many years in the town the Oxfam Shop has enjoyed a much needed refit in line with a national programme of bringing Oxfam shops up to present day standards.

Manager Gemma Lathwell said: “The shop looks wonderful. It is amazing what a change of colour and improved lighting does to the whole atmosphere and I do hope our old and new customers will pop in and have a look for themselves”.

Gemma, who came to Oxfam from a retail background has seen a number of changes in her six years with Oxfam, notably the increased use of technology, added: ““We have a great team of over 40 volunteers who undertake a number of tasks, steaming, pricing, sorting, doing our great window displays, organising sales on e-bay, managing the till, working on the shop floor and a small team who devote their time to books. We do have a Facebook page, the Oxfam Shop Leighton Buzzard and would like to see more people visit the page to keep abreast of any special offers or new items in stock.”

The whole team in the shop would like to thank all the customers who supported them over the years and of course a warm welcome to new customers. Why not pop in and view the autumn range of clothing and accessories, Christmas gifts and cards, and range of Fairtrade products.

Barbara Addrison made a special cake to mark the opening day of the new-lookshop, which was shared by customers and volunteers.
