Plans for this year’s sixth annual Oxjam music festival are in full swing, with more than 25 musical events now scheduled to take place in and around Leighton Buzzard throughout March.

However, organisers want to hear of even more potential gigs, concerts or sessions so that they can add them to the programme and raise as much money as possible for Oxfam’s vital development work in areas such as Southern Sudan, and countries taking in Syrian refugees.

“We’ve already got a fantastic range of events lined up, but are keen to get even more, and particularly to cover as many musical tastes as possible during the festival,” said Edmund Flach, who heads the organising team.

“Events can be as simple as a get-together for a sing-song, or as complicated as a major concert in a local venue. We’d love to hear from anyone with any ideas or plans and we will gladly give advice if you need it.”

The deadline to get your event in the printed programme is Sunday, February 2, however Edmund added: “There’ll still be time to organise events after that date, and we’ll be able to publicise those on the Oxjam Leighton Buzzard website.”

This year, the festival runs from Saturday, March 1 to Sunday March 30 – with a few events also taking place before and after those dates – see the latest draft programme at www.oxjamleightonbuzzard.org.uk.

The festival kicks off with an opening concert and official launch of the new LB Oxjam CD on Saturday, March 1.

The CD is a new compilation, featuring the best of the local musicians and groups who feature in the festival.

Last year, an amazing £6,010 was raised in total.
