Prepare to see sparks rocketing across the sky at this year’s community bonfire and fireworks charity event in Leighton.

Leighton Lions Club is staging its annual spectacular on Saturday at Brooklands Middle School, Brooklands Drive. Gates open at 5.30pm. There’s hot food and drinks, rides plus live music from Vivace.

Leighton Lions Club has been assured that the community event will be comprehensively policed this year.

Sgt Andy Rivers, who is in charge of day-to-day community policing in the town, told a recent meeting of the Leighton-Linslade Town Council’s police liaison sub-committee, that two PCSOs would be provided as a goodwill gesture and that four uniformed police officers, paid for from Operation Dodford funds, would patrol the site throughout the night.

Discounted tickets can be bought in advance from Watsons Property Management, High Street, or at a market stall, Market Square, on the day.

Tickets can also be bought at the gate.

There is also limited parking available at £20 per car, with all profits going to Lions charities.
