Three people were caught on the A4146 Leighton bypass doing 130, 127 and 118mph.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has collected figures on the highest speeds recorded on the roads over the last year following Freedom of Information requests to 39 police authorities.

A motorist going 149mph on the M25 at Swanley holds the record for the highest speed clocked by a speed camera in England and Wales between the April 2013 and May 2014 period. An IAM spokesman said: “Speed limits are a limit. They are not a target to beat. Unfortunately this message has not got through to many motorists.”
