250 mile mark reached by Heath and Reach cyclist
Adam Faiers cycling to MK Dons away games
A sporting challenge has seen a man cycle over 250 miles so far across the length and breadth of the country to MK Dons away games.
Adam Faiers, 41, of Pinkle Hill Road, Heath and Reach, is secretary of the MK Dons Supporters Association and since launching the project in July, Adam has already cycled 267 miles, collecting nearly £450 in sponsorship.
The aim of his challenge is to raise awareness for the Sports and Education Trust, disabled football and the Redway School.
He said: “The encouragement given by the fans of the MK Dons has been inspiring and even a fan in Sydney, Australia was tweeting his support after I added more miles with a wrong turn.”
On Tuesday August 21 the cyclist rode 130 miles to Bournemouth averaging 17 miles an hour after being waved off by the Community Football team and Dons First team player Steven Gleeson.
Adam said ‘The trip to Bournemouth was excellent. It was my longest ever bike ride and I was getting tired towards the end.”
Just four days later, Adam cycled 70 miles to Swindon Town in three and a half hours
“The 70 miles to Swindon was slightly easier going, but after the long ride on Tuesday, I was glad to get there.”
He has been recording his training progress and hopes that the blogs and updates on Twitter and Facebook will get people involved.
