A comic book fanatic got down on one knee surrounded by his beloved comics in the middle of Leighton’s shop with an unusual, but successful proposal to his girlfriend.
Mark Waterton, 31, owner of Axion Comics and Cards, felt ‘honoured’ as he watched a regular customer propose in his shop based on Hockliffe Street.
“He came up to me in the morning and asked me if he could propose in my shop. I have all different walks of life come into my shop, but I haven’t seen anyone propose before, so it was nice. He deserves a bit of happiness and they are a really nice couple.
“She said yes and he said there was no where better he could have done it. It was nice, I feel honoured that it was in my shop.”
