Leighton’s All Saints Church has sent £3,000 to three charities thanks to the generosity of the public.

The first beneficiary is a hospital in Bethlehem with a specialist rehabilitation unit for children and adults with disabilities, and those recovering from stroke or head injury (see photo).

Also receiving money isAlzheimers Society UK which supports carers and individuals living with dementia and funds research. Finally, Bedfordshire based CHUMS – a bereavement wellbeing and trauma service for children – has been handed a cheque.

More than £1,800 was added from All Saints’ funds to boost the charity aid.

All Saints churchwarden Christine Stopford said: “We are very grateful to the people in Leighton Buzzard who contributed to our chosen charities at our church Christmas services. The collections taken at all our Christmas services are given to good causes and All Saints’ donates thousands of pounds throughout the year to charities at a local, national and international level.

“Our Partners in Mission group organise fundraising events for these charities and are currently raising money during Lent for refugee victims of the conflict in Syria.”
