Another nail in Leighton town centre’s coffin?

Local Leighton Buzzard Traders unhappy about proposed retail park

Local Leighton Buzzard Traders unhappy about proposed retail park

STRUGGLING retailers in Leighton say the building of an out-of-town retail park would be another nail in the High Street’s coffin.

Still reeling from last year’s decision to allow Tesco to expand its Vimy Road store, many businesses fear that if the Grovebury Road idea goes ahead it will kill the town centre shops once and for all.

Tom and Sam Shattock of TK Furniture in Hockliffe Street, and Paul Johnson of Address 72 have all written letters of disapproval to the councils and MP Andrew Selous. More are expected to follow.

However, shoppers in town think it may be a welcome addition to Leighton-Linslade’s shopping experience.
