A Leighton Buzzard author has delved deep into her past to write a true story about her ancestor’s hunt to find her biological parents.
Griselda Gifford, of Dukes Ride, has written The Cuckoo’s Daughter, a romantic tale based in 1799 that has been passed down in her family through the generations.
The story is written in the eyes of Louisa Edfin, who has been brought up by her foster family on a farm and while trying to find her own identity, she falls in love with a handsome man who her parents forbid her to marry.
Griselda said: “I just felt sorry for Lousia and thought her story should be told because it is very hard if you are fostered and want to find out more about your real parents.
“I had to do quite a bit of research because I didn’t know much about that period of time, but I really enjoyed writing it and looking into my past.”
Griselda, who has written 30 books during her writing career, will be signing copies of The Cuckoo’s Daughter at Barista’s Cafe in Lake Street on Saturday, September 7 at 3pm.
She is also teaching creative writing workshops for adults or children. For more information contact Griselda Gifford@AOL.com, call 01525 374479 or visit www.griselda.co.uk.
