Villages throughout Buckinghamshire are being called to action as the 2013 Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village Competition gets underway.

The competition is organised by the Bucks & Milton Keynes association of local councils with sponsorship provided by Bucks County Council, the county’s District Councils and international real estate adviser Savills, who will be sponsoring the community award.

The competition is open to villages and small towns and they will be judged on the maintenance of their facilities, absence of litter and the

condition of their open spaces.

The 2013 Savills community award will be presented to the village showing the most evidence of community effort in achieving best kept village status.

Competition chairman, Richard Pushmanm, said: “The competition encourages residents to improve their local environment by keeping their villages clean and well cared for and to involve the whole community in taking a pride in the villages’ upkeep.

Through the competition we want to reward those communities for their hard work and commitment.”

The deadline for entries to the Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village competition is April 30 and entry forms are available from the Bucks & Milton Keynes association of local councils.
