Children are Tudors for a day
They visited the ancestral home of George Washington
Children from Leighton Middle School visited the ancestral home of George Washington last week.
The Year Five students went to Sulgrave Manor and spent a day living a bit before George Washington's time as Tudors.
In that age Laurence Washington, who was known to Henry VIII, lived there with his wife and 11 children.
The pupils wore Tudor costumes and joined in lots of activities as they explored the manor. They re-enacted the life of Laurence and his family and even worked in the kitchen using real Tudor implements.
They particularly enjoyed learning about how the house was built.
Head of year five Christine McElhone said: "We had a wonderful day. It was marvellous to see the children learning so much and thoroughly enjoying themselves at the same time."
