Coffee could be just the job
New course to help unemployed in Leighton
A course to help unemployed young people into work in Leighton is launching later this month.
Aimed at supporting those aged 16 to 25, the Prince's Trust's Get Into Coffee training programme claims to take a practical and innovative approach to job training.
The four-week programme, supported by Costa Coffee and Central Beds Youth Service, includes two weeks of training at the Leighton Youth Centre in Vandyke Road and a two-week work placement in coffee shops in Milton Keynes, Luton and Dunstable.
Participants will also have the opportunity of up to six months mentoring support from trained volunteers and Prince's Trust staff on completion of the course.
Graham Ball, Prince's Trust East of England regional director, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for young people with very real job prospects at the end of it."
Mr Ball said young people on Get Into Coffee will learn a good blend of customer service skills, confidence building and personal organisation.
Alongside a clear focus on customer service, the programme includes a wellbeing and time management sessions, interview practice and drugs awareness training. Additionally, all participants will leave with a food hygiene qualification and support with improving their CV.
The Get Into Coffee taster day is on September 16 and the course is between September 20 and October 15.
