Permit zones for all on-street parking had been proposed by Central Beds Council as an answer to motorists avoiding charges at the railway station.
Annual permits currently cost £50 for the first vehicle, £70 for the second and £90 for the third. However, Central Beds Council say that these cost are currently under review and it is expected that they will be “significantly reduced”.
The council consultation on the issue has been running for the past month, with the public having until this Friday to voice their views.
