A CAREER in television is on the cards for Linslade’s dishy Dean Dibsdall after he won the £25,000 top prize in Channel 4’s latest dating show, Playing It Straight.

The 28-year-old Mr Bedfordshire and part-time model, from Knaves Hill, appeared in the final of the tongue-in-cheek programme with three others but the female contestant, Cara, left it to the last to pick her choice of man.

The self-employed farrier is now looking forward to enjoying further television success after being signed up for Horse and Country TV.

The tension mounted through the final of Playing It Straight as blue-eyed blonde, Cara, put the final four through their paces.

Throughout the eight-week series Cara had to eliminate contestants in a bid to find a straight boyfriend. If she’d ended up with a gay guy then he would have pocketed the whole £50,000 prize-money but if he admitted that he was straight then they shared the cash.

Dean, a former Vandyke Upper student, proved the ultimate dating dilemma for Cara who, until a final horse and carriage ride with him, doubted his sexuality. He attracted a celebrity fan when former Big Brother winner Brian Dowling tweeted his feelings while online traffic showed that the nation’s viewers were split over whether he was gay.

In the final challenge the last four contestants - Dean, his nemesis Sven, best mate Danny, and twin Sam - had to give Cara a massage. She then eliminated Essex hairdresser Danny who admitted to a shocked Dean that he was gay.

At the end, with just three remaining, she discounted Sven and Sam, who both admitted that they were gay, to choose Dean.

Afterwards Dean told the LBO: “ I was totally shocked at winning. I did think I was in a good position to win but hearing Cara say: ‘Dean you’re the winner’ just felt like a dream. I was geniunely shaking!”
