Decision day for Stoke Hammond’s wind farm

Today is the day that people living in Stoke Hammond will finally find out if a wind farm will be built in their countryside after a 15-month gruelling battle.

Protesters who have been campaigning against the planned site of four gigantic wind turbines at Dorcas Lane are hopeful the plans will be quashed after learning the scheme is being pushed for refusal.

Council officers say that the height of the wind farm will blight the rolling landscape and do “unacceptable” harm to residential areas, making them “unattractive places to live”.

But it will be up to councillors at Aylesbury Vale’s strategic development control committee to decide whether to take their advice or back government pressure to boost green energy.

The meeting takes place today at 1pm at The Gateway, Gatehouse Road, Aylesbury.
