A Greenleas Lower School teaching assistant will compete for the title of Miss Bedfordshire for the second time this weekend.
Emily Grace Batchelor, 23, previously entered the competition in 2009 and was named Miss Charity Bedfordshire after she raised more than £1,000 for good causes, more than any other contestant.
This year, she is fundraising for the Miss World charity Beauty with a Purpose.
Emily, of Heath Road, will go up against 27 other finalists at Luton Rugby Club on Sunday, May 11, and the winner – judged not only on their good looks but also on their intelligence, grace and confidence – will qualify directly for the Miss England final.
Beauty with a Purpose will send money raised in the Bedfordshire competition to the children’s charity Variety.
Variety support sick, disabled and disadvantaged kids in the UK by providing wheelchairs and ‘sunshine coaches’ for travel, among other activities.
Emily has once again received the backing of North Street hairdressers Michael Di Meo, and has collection tins at the salon and the Energie fitness club.
