Enquiries are ongoing over reports of a gunman in Linslade

Sightings of a man in possession of a weapon resulted in armed police, dog units and a helicopter being sent out to search Linslade.

Witnesses claim to have seen an armed man heading into a property on New Road at 4.30pm yesterday evening.

After a thorough search of the area, Police were unable to find the suspect and weapon.

Armed police arrived at their rendezvous point in Tesco car park on Vimy Road at 5.05pm.

However, there were no sightings of the suspect by the police and the search was called off at 8pm.

A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: “We received a report of an offensive weapon. The area helicopter was assisting with a search. Enquiries are still ongoing.”
