Flood alert for Leighton homes

Raging torrent close to the top

People living in the Willowbank Walk, Brookside Walk and Appenine Way area of Leighton were on tenterhooks on Sunday as Clipstone Brook threatened to burst its banks.

The normally placid brook, swollen by torrential rain pouring off already waterlogged farmland, was turned into a raging torrent.

Central Beds Council officers inspected the brook on Sunday afternoon, fortunately, however the waters were beginning to subside and no action was taken.
