Football club buzzing over celebrity match

LEIGHTON Town Football Club's chairman Iain McGregor says the tickets for the big match against Celebrity United are selling like hot cakes.

Big name stars Ben Sheppard, Les Ferdinand and Ralf Little are some of the possible celebs who could turn out against a Leighton All Stars team on Sunday April 29 to raise money

for Willen Hospice and the club.

With just over a week to go until the game Mr McGregor is urging more people to get to the club and buy their tickets.

"The tickets sales are going very, very well, but we need more people to keep buying them as it's advisable you get them in advance as there will be a big rush on match day.

"We have sold a lot and we may get close to the capacity at Bell Close," said Mr McGregor.

The Leighton team will feature former players such as James Heeps, Steve Mills, Steve Kirkby, Craig Johnson, Kenny Hollis and Robbie Brightman.

Mr McGregor says the chance to see a few blasts from the past as well as TV stars on the same pitch is creating excitement.

"There is a real buzz around the club and everyone is really excited," said Mr McGregor.

"There has already been a lot of publicity and I know Celebrity United are really looking forward to it as it's their first game of the season and they need the preparation as they're playing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu later on in their season!"

Kick-off is at 3pm on Sunday April 29 at Bell Close. You can get tickets from the club priced 5 adults, 2 U16s and concessions and 12 for family (two adults/two children).
