Four arrests made at illegal rave in Linslade
Crime
An illegal rave that rocked Linslade at the weekend pushed police to intervene and take control, which resulted in four arrests and sound equipment seized.
More than 350 people gathered on farmland off Wing Road on Saturday night.
Two men aged 23 and a 19-year-old woman, all thought to be the organisers of the rave, were arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance, but were later released on bail.
The woman was also arrested for possession of Class B drugs and has consequently been charged.
She will now face Magistrates court on September 24.
A 17-year-old was also arrested for drugs offences, but was later released with a caution.
Police arrived at the scene at 2.20am on Sunday morning while the rave was in full progress, but did not manage to bring the event to a stop until 9.30am.
The site was then fully cleared by 11.05am.
A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: “Once an event of this size is established it is very difficult to bring it to a close quickly and safely. The appropriate notices were served and a number of arrests were made.
“It took several hours to gather together the resources needed to bring the event to a stop and make sure that we could make arrests and seize the equipment used.
“Early information from the public is vital to get control of such incidents before they become established.”
