Gardening volunteers launch In Bloom campaign

Town mayor Ray Berry and his wife joined volunteers from the Friends of Leighton'Linslade in Bloom group to begin this year's efforts to brighten the town with floral displays for the summer. The town will be taking part in the 2016 Anglia in Bloom competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society and hopes at least to emulate last year's silver'gilt award.

On Sunday, April 24, the group concentrated on the cottage garden area outside Mary Bassett Lower School opposite Waitrose. Fourteen volunteers weeded, pruned and collected litter, filling a town council truck with the results. Further work will continue at this and other sites in Leighton-Linslade in preparation for the summer’s colourful displays.

The group is keen to hear from anyone who would like to join them in their efforts. Contact the White House on 01525 631920 or Friends chairman Rosie Palmer on 01525 378526.
