Giant straw fire burns all night

Fire crews had to work throughout the night on Tuesday (December 3) when a 200-tonne stack of hay caught fire in Hockliffe.

The 6.20pm blaze was so fierce at Trinity Hall Farm that firefighters were forced to let the stack burn out, while minimising the risk of fire spreading to nearby buildings.

Fire crews had to be changed every four hours.

A fire investigation will be carried out – call Beds Police on the non-emergency number 101 with information.
