Herds of runners set for Whipsnade Stampede

HUNDREDS of runners are busy limbering up for Whipsnade Zoo’s annual Stampede which returns next month.

Putting their best foot forward, laps around the zoo will take runners past some of the world’s most incredible animals – including cheeky chimps and super-fast cheetahs – to raise funds for the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) which runs Whipsnade.

By taking part in the 10k run or 2k run on Sunday May 27, sponsored by PetPlan, runners will be helping the charity to carry out its work to conserve endangered species.

Last year’s Stampede was the most successful yet, with more than £20,000 raised for ZSL – and this year participants are being urged to dig deep to try make the seventh Stampede an even greater success.

Development Officer, Lucy Cannock, said: “ZSL is very excited that the ZSL Whipsnade Zoo Stampede is back again this year and hopes people will dig deep to raise more valuable funds for the charity.”

Entry fees include entry into the zoo for the day, car parking for all participants, chip timing for the 10k event, goodie bags for all finishers and medals. Trophies will also be presented to winners of various categories.
