A Great Brickhill woman is organising a series of fun horse ride events to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

Janet Stewart, of Rotten Row, is aiming to raise funds for the World Horse Welfare, the Blue Cross and the Romsey War Memorial Project with the events over the next four years.

Janet said: “The first two rides were a great success, starting at Lower Rectory Farm in Great Brickhill with routes of 10 to 15 miles include the Brickhills, Aspley Woods, Woburn, Water Eaton and Stoke Hammond.

“Riders from Bucks, Beds, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire have all given fabulous feedback and said they will be coming again.

“Our youngest rider was six years old, a lovely rider on her little black pony, she kept up with the rest of her group with no problem completing the course.

“We are in need of volunteers for the next two events on July 27 andAugust 31 (10am to 1.30pm) to manage road crossing or gates, please contact if you can spare some time.”

Ride entries are open until 10pm the day before, for further information email: animalsinwar@mail.com or call 07929 339485.
